Thank you Zach!! we have been cruising since 1993 and have completed 56 Cruises, we have yet to experience Norwegian !!! your review has encouraged me to at least consider Norwegian… I know this sounds ridiculous but not including water in the drink package is one of the main reasons that kept me away… It was the principal and it still is… But this was a great review and I appreciate it thank you🚢

Not happy with entertainment on the Joy however going on the Joy for the fourth time next week only because it fits my schedule

Ncl is pricing very aggressively but i struggle so much with the onboard experience. The newer ships have better staff but worse and sometimes paywalled activities. The older ships have better activities like free and included pools and public venues but the staff is somewhat clueless which is problematic for my party as people have food allergies.

Hey Zach, great job on your review. Straight forward, good facts and easy to understand. By November 2024, I will hit 30 overall Cruises, ..... just behind your 33 as oh this video. P.S.: I have been on 6 Norwegian Cruises and I remember distinctly experiencing the same thing you did, ..... sitting in the main dining room where they had a large dance floor and a band, ..... the music was SO LOUD I literally had to leave the dinning room, go back to my Cabin and grab my "Ear plugs." What made things worse was that I had met a lovely woman on the ship that I had invited to join me for that specific dinner. We couldn't hear each other talk, because the music was SO LOUD then when I returned witwith my ear plugs I was so embarrassed wearing them and the dinner was destroyed! 😎⛹️‍♀️🤸‍♂️🚴‍♂️

NCL used to have great entertainment with at least two different main production shows on a 7 night sailing. They've cut the shows in half and I miss those shows. 😢 I still love Choir of Man its the best show Ive ever seen on a cruise but 1 main show a week isnt enough.

Does NCL still have welcome back party for past cruisers?

At this point in my cruising, I really enjoy just sitting in a bar with some live music: A solo pianist, a band playing 1970's music, solo guitarist, a jazz band, etc. do they have anything like that on virgin? Nobody mentions it.

I'm married but I would totally go solo and do it on NCL. I'd do it now but my husband has some medical stuff and hasn't been able to drive in a year due to his auto immune disease and the need for high steroid use. Crossing fingers that his cataract/glaucoma surgeries will solve that. He's good with me doing things alone, but he needs to be back to independent. Helps are son and his girlfriend live here because they help out and our youngest and her boyfriend are here partially and even when they get their place, they will be 20 minutes away if needed if I'm not here. Thanks for the review and the perks for solo cruisers, it makes me feel comfortable going at a fair and decent price and perks if I ever take that leap.

I am managing to find reasonable prices for solo cruising, mostly on MSC and NCL ships. But I'm also finding that airfare costs roughly the same as the cruises themselves. Ad an extra night by flying in the day before, and I'm priced out altogether.

On the scheduling, there’s no way to make everyone happy. You mentioned that you “get it” and things can change. So, if they put a skeleton schedule on the app for the full cruise and then something is added or changed or removed, there will be people unhappy. Maybe more people unhappily complaining because perhaps they made plans and missed out on other plans because they didn’t notice the adds/changes/removals in time. If you were the one listening to complaints all day every day, I think you’d agree that of all the options, you’re going to disappoint the fewest guests by keeping the app schedule limited to no more than 24 hours in advance. While giving the activities team and other staff the greatest flexibility to manage resources. Still a fan. Just have come to expect you to be a little smarter about things like this. :-)

On the shower draining, do you think that the guest who stayed in your same cabin had the same issue during their sailing and didn’t say anything? Or they said something and it wasn’t fixed? Or, is it more likely that the drainage issue occurred on the last day or night before you embarked and no one had reported the issue until til you did? Let’s be fair and reasonable before making such a sweeping extrapolation. No guest would keep showering if it was flooding. Given how easily they fixed it when you reported it, the same would have been done had the prior guest reported it. So it had to had happened between the last sailing day and your embarkation. If it had kept flooding, then I’d agree with you on this criticism. Still a fan.

Just got back from my own solo cruise. For me the biggest issue is clearly with crew. Not their conduct as the Norwegian staff were phenomenal, but there weren’t enough of them. So many bars and other venues seemed to have really tough crew to passenger ratios. I tried to put my money where my mouth was and tip generously and be polite, and by the end I was getting recognized before handing them my card. I honestly wouldn’t mind paying a significant bump for more crew. More time spent sunning and funning instead of waiting for overworked staff.

Love your videos. Sorry for not picking, can you please say "docked" instead of "parked". Ships are docked not parked. Thank you and keep up the good work.

So I’ve booked my first ever cruise and will be traveling solo. Wish I had found your review beforehand, but it should help me avoid some of the issues you experienced. I have the 150 min wi-if package, and saw the option to upgrade. Maybe because I’ve never cruised before - does this mean your cellular data won’t work on the ship, so you have to use their wi-fi?

Is the reflection more so boring than the other celebrity ships ?

Each of the big Norwegian Ships have a Broadway Show. Until 2023 Joy had Footloose The Broadway Musical. There was a story there but I don't remember, too tired to look it up. Surprised that they didn't replace it reprise the show. Glad your food on Joy was good as the Getaway was awful. I obviously didn't starve but I'll never do the dining package again. If one isn't in to the dining or drinking packages they can uncheck them during the reservation process.

Hey Zach, considering booking an Eastern Caribbean Cruise on Enchantment of the Seas with Royal Caribbean for later August 2024. Considering this ship due to lower cost overall and the itinerary gets me to PerPerfect Day at Coco Caye private Island. QUESTION: Other videos have criticized the age of the ship as "VERY OLD," old looking, old smelling, old Cabins although a refurbish a few years ago; "Quality of Food," and hit or miss on Entertainment. WHAT IS YOUR OVERALL EXPERIENCE?? QUESTION²: Is the Casino smoking or Non-smoking?? I do NOT smoke. Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work. 😎⛹️‍♀️🤸‍♂️🚴‍♂️

My husband and I have a rule - 5 day cruises or less we splurge on the drink package. Anything longer than that we skip the drink package and splurge on the dining package.

Thanks for visiting us here in Bermuda! Hope you had a great trip. I’m treating some family to a cruise on JOY in October sailing out of Miami! 😂. Just to share for others-. If you have the Free at Sea basic beverage package like we do you can add on the Starbucks package for $12.95 / day. I simply called customer service and they took my CC number over the phone. To note, they do require anyone in your cabin to be charged as well). Still a great deal if you think you might hit up Starbucks 2-3 times /day. Happy Sailing!

So NCL's island in Belize Harvest Caye is a really interesting partnership between the cruise line and the country. All the shops, restaurants, excursions, etc are all run by locals in exchange for allowing NCL to use and develop that stretch of land. So you pay out of pocket for everything but it goes to the local economy. And the pool is amazing!

Test kitchen was my only disappointment of the cruise. However a couple we met who went the night after had a totally different menu that sounded delicious so I think it is hit or miss

Not as big as the new ships but the new ships don’t go to the ports the small ones can….so while most people will see more ship on the big ones, the small ones will see more ports….

I’ll stick with Aqua Class

I'd love to cruise to Bermuda, but I find so many cruises that go out there and then stay for multiple days. Unfortunately, this just isn't the experience I want from a cruise - I'd much rather be somewhere different everyday. Thanks for showing us around, Zach!

You failed to mention whether there is a supplement charge or extra port fees added as a solo.

Just got off the encore last Sunday, first time cruise ever…food was terrible, it was crowded (sailed at 100% capacity), couldn’t get seats anywhere to eat and had to get plates of food to go back to the room. The App was terrible and generally we didn’t have a good experience and will likely not cruise with NCL again. Alaska was great and the views etc but we felt the ship was too big and not enough services for the amount of people we had on board. The bars were the only good part of the ship and could always get a drink any time.

Sorry to hear about NCL. I wanted to do Alaska again and wanted check them out for my 2nd ever cruise. I did my first cruise with Carnival, everything went smoothly. It was a smaller ship, though. However, the food was okay. The desserts were great! The stateroom staff & dining room staff called us by first name.

Cruising solo is expensive...companies list those prices per person on a double occupancy, for US based cruises, even Maimi to L.A. via Panama Canal the solo cruiser pays more than they would if it were double occupancy. Solo Cruising is NOT that $88 per day these cruisers are touting...otherwise I'd have done 4 cruises from Dec 1st through till March 9th for just about $8500 for 100 days of Cruising at about $85 per day instead of the $13,000 the lines demanded. So, I didn't go.

My family teases me that they never want go on a cruise with me if it's supposed to go to a private island. I think five times now (on three different lines) I've been on cruises that were scheduled to visit private islands and something went wrong every single time. The closest I ever got was seeing Castaway Cay way off in the distance. I have a private island curse.

It won't mean crap to them. They know if you want to play (cruise solo) you have to pay. I booked an NCL cruise this month. Inside cabin, solo, but didn't book 'solo'. The price I paid was $1000. less than if I had booked 'solo'. Go figure. And NONE of the cruise companies will explain this.

Fun Fact: If you do a google search of a Norwegian ship running aground in Bermuda. You will find the all the stories and news clips about the Norwegian Dawn in 2015 running aground into the coral reefs. That was my first ever cruise haha

Zach, So my wife and I just booked a 11 night Panama & Southern Caribbean cruise for mid March 2026 onboard Celebrity Asent in a Aqua Sky Suite as well on deck 10 port side. This will be our second Celebrity cruise as our first was in 2023 onboard Equinox in a A1 Aqua class cabin. We enjoyed it and had a great time even though our stateroom was dated but it was a older ship in the soltice class. I would like your thoughts on your experience? Is it worth the cost going per say from a A1 Aqua class stateroom to a Aqua sky suite? I know there is alot of amenities and perks with a suite but also a ton to do and see on the ship as well from researching I just started. I must say though I do like the fact I can go to a quieter space that's not overly crowded. Was that the feel you got when on this cruise?. Any information & tips are much appreciated. Thank you for your vlogs and sharing the information and the behind the scenes work.
